A. Your passwords are stored in the Windows registry. They are encrypted using the 3 DES (also known as Triple DES) algorithm using an industry standard technique to derive a secret key from a password, known as PKCS # 5.

A. Since 1-pass becomes your passport to the world, it is very important that you chose a good password and that you keep it safe from prying eyes. A good password is hard to guess but easy to remember. Several techniques for choosing good passwords exist and you choose one that bests suits your habits. For example, you may pick a sentence that you can easily remember because it has special meaning for you.

( Ex: I Like To Race DownHill On Skis.) You then take the first letters of the words and obtain: iltrdhos.

Next, flip the case of the first and last letters and add a number at the end for good measure ( IltrdhoS3 ). If you have at least 8 characters it is a good password !

Another good technique is to interleave numbers between the letters of a word: ex: B6A2L1L. Again, flipping the case of some letters makes the resulting password even better ?

A. You can change your 1-pass password right from the "Action"menu item on the 1-pass menu bar by selecting "Change password". See the guided tour for more information on how to make full use of 1-pass.

A. 1-pass supports Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 5.5 and above on all Win32 platforms. On Windows 2000, versions of Internet Explorer 5.0 and above are supported. The upcoming 1-pass version will support other popular browsers and platforms.

Q. Does the 1-pass company or Okiok Data receive any information about the Web sites I visit and my passwords ?

A. No. Okiok Data cannot collect any information about either Web sites you visit, or any information regarding your credentials. That private information belongs to you and no one else can have access to it. The only contact between your 1-pass program and our web server occurs when you choose to update your version of 1-pass or when 1-pass automatically checks for updates. If a new version is available, you will be given the choice to download it. Okiok Data cannot retreive information whatsoever about you or your computer; we only keep track of how many downloads were performed from the 1-pass site.

Q. What happens if I forget my 1-pass password ?

A. Since 1-pass is a security product, if you lose your 1-pass password and you have chosen a good password, there is no way for anyone to access your confidential information stored within 1-pass. You will have to uninstall 1-pass and all your 1-pass login informations, install and re-enter all your user Ids and passwords for the protected sites that you access.
